# ImageSnip Privacy Policy **Last updated:** 29 July 2026 **Publisher:** AmericanPlugins **Contact:** support@americanplugins.com ## Single purpose ImageSnip inspects the images on the web page you are currently viewing and reports their file size, dimensions, format and alt text, so you can find images that are slowing a page down. It can then save selected images or a CSV of the audit to your computer. ## What ImageSnip reads, and when ImageSnip has no standing access to your browsing. It uses Chrome's `activeTab` permission, which grants access to a single tab only at the moment you click the ImageSnip icon, and only for that tab. It cannot read pages you have not explicitly pointed it at, it does not run in the background, and it does not observe your browsing history. When you click the icon, ImageSnip reads the following from that page: image URLs, image dimensions, image file formats, `alt` attribute text, and the transfer sizes already recorded by the browser's Resource Timing API. This is done entirely inside your browser. ## What leaves your device **Page and image data never leaves your device.** ImageSnip does not upload, transmit or store the images it finds, the URLs it finds, the pages you visit, or any content from those pages. There is no analytics, no telemetry and no tracking of any kind. The only network requests ImageSnip makes are to `api.americanplugins.com`, and only for licence checks. Those requests contain exactly two things: 1. Your licence key, if you have entered one. 2. A random identifier generated on your device to count how many browsers a licence is active on. It is not derived from your hardware, your Chrome profile, your IP address or anything else about you, and it cannot be linked back to you. These requests happen when you activate a licence and at most once a week afterwards. If you never buy a licence, ImageSnip makes no network requests at all. ## What is stored on your device Held in Chrome's local extension storage, on your computer: - the random browser identifier described above - your licence key and a signed licence token, if you have activated Pro - a count of how many exports you have used in the current month Uninstalling ImageSnip removes all of it. ## What our server stores If you activate a licence, our licence service stores a one-way hash of your licence key (never the key itself), the random browser identifiers it is active on, the email address attached to your Gumroad purchase, and the time of the last successful check. This exists only to enforce the device limit and to confirm a subscription is current. It is never sold, shared or used for marketing. Payment is handled entirely by Gumroad. ImageSnip never sees or stores your payment details. Gumroad's own privacy policy governs your purchase. ## Downloads Images and CSV files you export are written to your own computer using Chrome's download system. Nothing is uploaded anywhere. ## Your choices You can sign a browser out at any time from the Pro badge in the extension, which removes the licence data from that browser and frees the seat. To have server-side licence records deleted, email support@americanplugins.com from the address attached to your purchase. ## Changes Material changes to this policy will be published on this page with an updated date, and noted in the extension's release notes.
